Off to school!

Johnny and Evie were so excited to start school yesterday! Evie bounced around the house, and they were both ready and waiting for the bus with time to spare.

Evie started kindergarten and hopes to be reading shortly.

Johnny started fourth grade and will be defending his title as king of the four-square courts.

He has strict instructions to look after his sister.

They look more than ready to go, don't they?

Samuel followed Evie right onto the bus and found himself a seat. I had to pull him off and remind him that he still goes to preschool at Alphabet.

The first day went well until dismissal, when Evie got lost on the way to the bus, which LEFT WITHOUT HER. You haven't seen me scream like I did when they arrived at my door without Evie. I'm very proud that I didn't swear. Long story short, the transport coordinator neglected to tell Evie's teacher that she was a bus rider, so no one came to her classroom to help her find the bus and the teacher thought Evie was with me on the playground. Evie wandered the school for about half an hour before my frantic calls got her located and in a car on the way home.

Everyone from Johnny (who thought kindergarten had been dismissed early) and the bus monitor (who believed him without question) all the way up to the head of school heard from me. I've been assured that there's no way it can happen again.

AISC has been great for Johnny, but sometimes I wonder if they haven't grown faster than the administration can handle.

Evie, being the trooper she is, was pretty unfazed. I was a wreck. Here's hoping for a better Day 2!
