ISB Panthers

I was really concerned about throwing the kids into a new school with only five weeks until summer vacation, but I'm happy to report that we're already big fans of International School Bangkok. The teachers, counselors and students have been right on top of helping Evie and Johnny feel welcome. The 5th grade counselors have a good understanding of Johnny's needs and are keeping a close watch, and Evie had about 20 instant friends as soon as she walked into her classroom.

Another thing I love? School uniforms! I highly recommend them. Zero wardrobe stress in the mornings. Here they are in all their glory. PE uniforms first, to be worn every other day:

Regular uniforms next. Elementary school students wear the red polo or a white version. Johnny will switch to green for middle school next year. Boys wear either black or khaki shorts, and girls wear black or khaki shorts, skorts or crop pants. I have no idea why Evie is holding a mermaid.

They're also required to wear a hat when playing in uncovered areas of the school. The hat is part of the uniform and comes in white or yellow. The construction of the school is a lot like the other two international schools with which I'm familiar -- The American School of Kinshasa and American International School Chennai -- where small "pods" of classrooms are connected by covered walkways. There are tons of open-air spaces, including the cafeterias. I love it!
