People have been telling me since the day we landed here that May is unbearably hot. I have to say I didn't fully understand this until I lived it for myself. Recorded high temperatures in Chennai for the month of May and the first week of June:
100, 99, 102, 106, 104, 102, 97, 100, 100, 97, 97, 99, 97, 100, 102, 104, 108, 108, 108, 104, 104, 104, 106, 106, 104, 100, 108, 106, 106, 106, 102, 102, 108, 108, 106, 106, 104, 104
Friends, this is not a dry heat.
Temperatures in the dead of night? Still in the upper 80s to low 90s. It's this no-relief problem that's the real kicker. It's just so HOT all the time! Everyone's tired and sluggish. Everyone's sweating buckets all the time. Ack!
Just so you know, it's currently 55 degrees in London. Woot!
